With 90 miles of interconnected routes for bicycling, in 2015 Cape Coral earned the bronze level "Bicycle Friendly Community Award" from the League of American Bicyclists. Third place is nice but first place is even better, and on April 3rd 2016 the city was chosen as the "2016 Bicycle Friendly Community of the Year" by the Florida Bicycle Association.

Numerous city streets border the many miles of canals, lakes and mangrove preserves as well as golf courses and marinas creating a unique environment for cycling. Combine that with flat terrain, great weather and over 120 miles of bike paths/lanes, well where else could you find a better setting for pedaling?

Currently there are seven bike routes marked with plenty of signs along the way, making them easy to follow.

Future plans include the addition of the Kismet Pkwy multi-use path which will initially run from Burnt Store Rd to Nelson Rd, and will be integrated into Florida's Coast To Coast SUN Bike Trail. With projects like this in the works, Cape Coral is sure to maintain its spot on bicycle friendly lists for years to come.
