While our minds are focused on our upcoming Thanksgiving celebrations and feasts, there's a fun happening at Fort Myers Beach that began November 17th running through the 26th that you should try to make time for in your busy schedule.
The 31st Annual American Sandsculpting Championship and Beach Festival takes place at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at 6890 Estero Bvd. and it's a can't miss event. This is the largest sand sculpting competition in the country.
Over 25 sand sculptors and hundreds of amateurs from all over the U.S. and three additional continents participate in the festival. Sculptor levels include World Class Master Level Sculptors, Advanced Amateur State champs and Amateur sculptors. In all, about 40 amazing sand creations constructed from over 2000 tons of sand will be on display for all to enjoy. You can even join in on the lessons being offered. Who knows, maybe you could hone your skills enough to enter your own work of sand art next year.
Admission is $7, kids under 4 are free and there is $1 off for active service members, veterans, police, fire and first responders.
