Since Southwest Florida/Cape Coral is located in an area where folks are relocating from all over the United States and from other countries as well, a common concern we hear our clients mention is how they will meet people once they've moved here. Many people have lived their adult lives in the same town then retire to Florida, and it can be scary relocating away from longtime friends.

The New Resident Club of Cape Coral was established to help newcomers over this hurdle. In fact 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of this special club. The function of the club is to assist folks in meeting new people, but they also teach you about your new hometown. The common thread that bonds its members together is the wish to form new friendships.

With the continual influx of new residents of all ages and at various stages of employment, the club is for everyone, not just retirees. And you don't have to be a full time resident to join. Part timers are welcome too. The club offers a good variety of activities such as dances, pot luck dinners, boating, tennis, fishing, beach parties, motorcycling, arts and crafts and much more.

Current membership totals around 800. The only requirement is you must have lived in Cape Coral for 3 years or less to join. Meetings are held at the Cape Coral Yacht Club on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:15 a.m.
