cape coral waterfront homes

So you just moved to SW Florida from the colder climes of say New England or the Midwest. You found a great house but most likely some of your northern style furniture and accessories don’t work with the relaxed Florida vibe you’d like in your new place. Since it’s always summer here, many people like to keep the feel of their home light and breezy with a coastal, nautical, tropical or beachy ambience. Keep in mind there are ways to achieve these looks without going too kitschy, which is a mistake some SW Florida newcomers make. It’s wise to do some coastal tweaking vs. going overly theme-y with decorations and colors. A little goes a long way.

Luckily there’s no shortage of furniture stores that carry large varieties of Florida style furniture. Drive along 41 in Fort Myers, Bonita and Naples and you’ll find literally dozens of furniture retailers to choose from. One of my preferred furniture stores with pieces leaning towards a tropical/coastal look is Matter Brothers.

For affordable accessories, you can’t beat Home Goods. Great selection and great prices. And check out Curious Cargo, a Fort Myers shop that sells coastal and tropical themed décor. My number one, all-time favorite can’t miss spot for home accents is Wilford & Lee with locations in Fort Myers, Bonita and Sanibel. Lamps, wall art, side tables, clocks, decorative pillows, rugs . . . you’ll find it all. You’ll have your home decked out and befitting your new SW Florida lifestyle in no time.
